Your property is an important asset which is worth registering and protecting. Land Registration is now either compulsory or voluntary. Compulsory registration will often be completed by a solicitor when a transfer of property is made. Voluntary registration is becoming ever more important for the following reasons:

  • Registration gives security of title providing better protection from adverse possession(squatters rights)
  • Land registration gives you greater certainty and security about what you own
  • The voluntary registration of land means that if you chose to sell, you will be a in a good position because potential buyers increasingly expect land to be registered before buying
  • It simplifies conveyancing making transactions easier and therefore less costly
  • At the moment, there is up to a 25% discount available to all first time voluntary registration applicants.
