Why renewable energy is good for your property?
When the energy bills come in it can be a major shock. Prices are continually rising and while shopping around for a better deal is all very well it takes time – and in 12 months you will probably be in the same boat as you are now.
There just has to be a better alternative, doesn’t there?
The prospect of generating our own power is an attractive proposition and one the Government is actively encouraging us to do by providing several financial incentives, meaning the cost of installing a green energy system can be paid back from the savings made.
Here at Madeleys Chartered Surveyors we have helped many people “go green” and know that renewable energy systems are not only a great way of generating your own electricity or heating but can also provide a good income.
Before starting down the road to your own independent project you need to ensure you qualify for one of the various financial schemes.
The two main financial benefits are the Feed-in Tariff and Renewable Heat Incentive, which in effect pay you for the energy generated by the system. The Feed-in Tariff is for electricity-producing systems, like solar panels, and the Renewable Heat Incentive – as the name suggests – is for heating systems, such as biomass boilers.
The Renewable Heat Incentive will prove a great advantage and will pay back the installation cost over a five to seven-year period. It will then go on to provide an income for the next 20 years.
There are several options to consider when taking the plunge into renewable energy and they need to be looked at taking your property and circumstances into account. They can include wind energy, solar power, hydro schemes and ground source heat pumps.
More people are turning to renewable energy as a more cost-effective operation and a way to create additional income. We are living at a time when we can feel really positive about what is available and take full advantage of the wealth of information and experience that is available on the various options.
Renewable energy is becoming an increasingly popular part of our work at Madeleys and we predict this will only grow further as the Government continues to push green energy.
