Available now: Animal Health and Welfare grants!

The wait is over and Animal Health and Welfare grants are now available to apply for through the Farming Equipment and Technology Fund (FETF) 2024.

This particular FETF grant helps goes towards the cost of items that are on a list which contribute to help improve animal health and welfare, the list of available items has been developed with farmers, vets and other experts within this sector.

With over 130 items with 29 new additions, the choices are endless as to how you can improve your animals’ health and welfare, ranging from mobile cattle handling systems to enclosed piglet creeps. Whether you are a cattle, sheep, pig, or poultry farmer, it is worth looking at the listed items. You can also apply for this grant if you are a contractor.

The minimum amount in which you can apply for is £1,000 and a maximum of £25,000. A percentage of the cost will be paid by the DEFRA/RPA depending on the item. These percentages can be found in the guidance.

The percentage for many of the items have increased compared to last year and the funding will go towards either:

  • the average cost of the item – if an item costs you the same or more than the expected average cost in the item list;
  • the actual cost you pay for the item – if an item costs you less than the expected average cost in the item list.

The deadline to apply for this grant is midday 1st May 2024 so act fast!
